Creative Futures 24

February saw the latest instalment of Creative Futures take over the Newton building for a day to share insights and career inspiration from across the creative industries. With some of NTU’s excellent alumni representing brands including Estee Lauder, Getty Images, and Linney group, students also heard from experts from the likes of Ralph Lauren, Arts Council England, and Creative UK.

Over 700 students attended the day and enjoyed a selection of panel talks, brand showcases, and opportunities to network with guests through 1:1 activities including portfolio reviews.

It was an honour to be included and meet some of the talented design students. I was truly blown away by their creativity and passion, they are destined for great things.

John Sewell – Director, Cosimo

I really enjoyed the whole day. We made lots of great connections across the board, from students to university staff and beyond.

Jasmine Wallace – FM student (via LinkedIn)

Everyone provided a fascinating insight into their careers… Listening to perceptions of networking and building a career within the creative industry was motivating and I feel very fortunate to have been there.

Cara Swinburn – FMB student (via LinkedIn)

The event today could not have come at a better time! … Thank you so much to all the creative professionals who gave their time to speak to us, it as so helpful to hear about your experiences and tips for the future!

Students benefited from the opportunity to make real connections with industry professionals, many of whom have walked the same corridors and sat in the same lecture theatres and studios in years past. Allowing for alumni and guests to share their insight helped to provide a flexible, genuine picture of careers in the creative industries, and what it means to be a creative professional in 2024 and beyond.
