Flexible learning
We understand that everybody’s circumstances are different. That’s why we’ve made studying here more inclusive with a range of flexible learning options. Find out how we can help you fit your learning around your schedule and responsibilities.
Part-time study
Balance study with work or personal commitments by studying part-time. This allows you to study at your own pace and spread the cost over a longer period.
If you're an international student, studying part-time is usually not suitable and is subject to many restrictions. Please visit the UKCISA website for more information.
Part-time Masters and professional qualifications
We offer part-time routes on many of our Masters degrees and professional courses, including a part-time Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) Early Years. Classes usually take place during the daytime and there are a few courses that offer evening classes. Check your course page details for more information.

Part-time PhDs
We provide part-time routes on a wide range of our PhD opportunities, allowing up to eight years to complete your research. As well as named PhD projects, you can submit your own research proposal with the intention to study part-time.
Distance learning
Distance learning provides an accessible way to study from any location. You’ll study our online Masters and postgraduate courses using our virtual learning environment, utilising digital resources to interact and bring your course to life. Sometimes, this will be blended with a short period of time on campus, where you'll attend in-person workshops with your tutors and fellow students.
Distance learning Masters and professional qualifications
We currently offer distance learning qualifications in law, biomedical science and career guidance as well as a distance learning Global Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA). Check out the course pages for more details on how you will learn.

Masters and professional qualifications
Our apprenticeships, Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) Early Years have been designed for those in work, as well as selected professional qualifications in law and education. You’ll be able to apply your learning to your role and gain the skills required to progress in your field.
Research degrees
Our Professional Doctorates focus on applying research to practical problems within your field. They are studied part-time alongside employment, blending workshop attendance with the same level of independent work as a PhD.
We also offer PhDs by Publication and Doctorates by Published, Creative or Established works. These enable professionals to utilise their existing body of work to gain a Doctorate level qualification.
