The difference between our postgraduate courses
We offer two types of postgraduate courses: taught courses and research courses.
Taught courses
The following courses are offered as taught postgraduate courses.
Module content is delivered via lectures, seminars and workshops, and may include site visits, laboratory sessions and study groups. The content is pre-determined, and caters to the developmental needs of our students, as well as the needs of industry employers.
Research courses
We offer a number of postgraduate research courses – these are predominantly student-led, supervised by a member of our academic team. You will look in-depth at an identified issue, and research widely to produce a substantial body of research evidence.
Module information for postgraduate courses
The course that you choose depends on your personal preference, determined by career aspirations, the needs of your current or future employers, your prior experience and qualifications, and your area of interest.

I have already recommended this course to a couple of friends back home. They’re currently doing their final year back home in Malawi and are looking to study in the UK, and I’ve suggested MSc Quantity Surveying at NTU.
