Love languages? Volunteer to teach other students at our Language Café

Are you passionate about languages? Do you love to meet new people? Become a volunteer for our weekly Language Café.

Students at Language Cafe

Language Café is a weekly event at our Global Lounges where students from across the university come together to learn and practice languages in a relaxed and fun setting. Language Café is open to complete beginners or even fluent speakers of different languages to meet and speak with others.

Volunteers for all languages are welcome. Some of the highly requested languages include English, French, German, Arabic, Spanish, Korean, Mandarin, and Japanese. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate is provided at each session so don’t forget to bring your own cup.

Why volunteer with us?

  • Gain valuable experience to enhance your CV.

Volunteers who complete 20 hours will receive a certificate. The contribution also counts toward your Global Employability Award.

Global Lounge new regular events schedule

Games afternoon

Challenge your friends to board games, quizzes, and enjoy some friendly competition.

  • Monday, 3 pm - 5 pm (Clifton and City Global Lounges)

Language Café

Learn or practise a language in a relaxed and friendly environment.

  • Tuesday, 5 pm - 7 pm (City Global Lounge)
  • Thursday, 3 pm - 5 pm (Clifton Global Lounge)

Gardening

Discover the joy of growing and nurturing plants at our Clifton Campus allotment.

  • Wednesday, 1 pm - 3 pm (Clifton Global Lounge)

Crafternoon

Relax and unwind in our craft sessions, where creativity meets mindfulness.

  • Wednesday, 2 pm - 4 pm (Clifton and City Global Lounges)

To me the Global Lounge means comfort and confidence. Whether it’s a hot drink or people asking how you feel on that day, you always feel comfortable and welcome, which translates to the confidence in yourself that builds throughout the time.
