Entry requirements

We welcome applications from students who are studying a range of academic qualifications.
We understand that the Baccalaureate Diplomas are rigorous programmes which involves studying a range of subjects to significant depth.
We have a long history of accepting Baccalaureate Diplomas for our courses. This has helped us to develop requirements which offer you the best possible opportunity to access and succeed in your studies.
International Baccalaureate
If you’re studying the full International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, you will need an overall pass, including specific grades in your Higher Level Subjects, depending on the UCAS tariff point requirement for your chosen course.

96 | Overall Pass in the IB Diploma, including at least 12 points from three Higher Level Subjects |
104 | Overall Pass in the IB Diploma, including at least 13 points from three Higher Level Subjects |
112 | Overall Pass in the IB Diploma, including at least 14 points from three Higher Level Subjects |
120 | Overall Pass in the IB Diploma, including at least 15 points from three Higher Level Subjects |
128 | Overall Pass in the IB Diploma, including at least 16 points from three Higher Level Subjects |
Where a specific subject grade is required at A Level, the following is required in the IB:
- Grade A = 6 at Higher Level in relevant subject
- Grade B = 5 at Higher Level in relevant subject
- Grade C = 4 at Higher Level in relevant subject
- Grade D = 3 at Higher Level in relevant subject
Students who do not complete the IB Diploma may be accepted on the basis of:
- Two Standard Level and two Higher Level Certificates or
- Three Higher Level Certificates

English language requirements for IB students
To meet the University's English language entry requirements you will need one of the following:
- International Baccalaureate English with the following grades:
English Language A: literature or English Language A: language and literature: [Grade 4] at Standard or Higher Level
English B: For September 2025 entry, [Grade 4] at Standard or Higher Level. For entry after September 2025, please contact us for details, or - IELTS or other English language qualification accepted by the University at the appropriate grade.
European Baccalaureate
If you’re studying the full European Baccalaureate (EB) Diploma, you will need an overall pass, including specific grades in your Higher Level Subjects, depending on the UCAS tariff point requirement for your chosen course.

Where a specific subject grade is required at A Level, the following is required in the EB:
- Grade A = 8
- Grade B = 7
- Grade C = 6
- Grade D = 5
English language requirements for EB students
To meet the University's English language entry requirements you will need one of the following:
- a grade 6 or above in English as a first or second language or English Literature in the EB.
- IELTS or other English language qualifications accepted by the University at the appropriate grade.
