Introduction:

Course dates:

7 - 9 April 2025, Monday to Wednesday 9 am - 4 pm

Transform the way you design and manage projects with this immersive, hands-on course in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and AutoDesk Revit.

In just three days, you’ll gain the skills to create 3D construction models that enhance design precision, streamline project collaboration, and optimise workflows. Perfect for both new and experienced professionals, this course covers everything from basic Revit tools to advanced BIM applications.

Guided by an expert tutor, you’ll work through real-world construction scenarios, learning to use Revit’s powerful tools for building information, visualisation, and project coordination.

By the end of the course, you’ll have the confidence and practical skills to produce data-rich models that drive project efficiency and quality.

  • Engage with like-minded professionals in a collaborative studio setting that encourages idea sharing.
  • With a limited class size you'll have the one-to-one attention you need to ensure you leave with the skills to continue developing your designs at home or work.
  • Benefit from learning with an experienced tutor who has established links to the profession and significant experience working in varied practices.
  • On successful completion of the course, you will receive a digital certificate of attendance and a digital badge.

Here’s what our previous attendees said:

‘This course gave me the basic understanding (and a lot more!) to help me move forward. I really enjoyed it. It was well paced and ideal with a small class – I think this is really important, so that questions can be asked and answered.’ JC

‘I enjoyed the course and look forward to putting into practice what I learnt. Many thanks to Geoff for a brilliant three days.’ DS

‘All of the content was most informative. A valuable learning experience.’ TP

‘Our tutor was very good at adapting the course to meet our needs, especially with regards to the huge number of questions asked by the group. And it was good to receive paper handouts as well and digital copies.’ MW

‘I strongly recommend the course to other people.’ NN

What you’ll study

On this course you’ll gain a practical understanding of BIM principles and develop essential skills to use AutoDesk Revit for high-quality construction and engineering projects.

During this course you will:

  • understand the origins and impact of BIM on modern engineering and its role in improving project collaboration and efficiency
  • master Revit’s interface, modeling tools, and techniques to create detailed, information-rich 3D models
  • develop organic forms and complex architectural elements, such as curtain walls, staircases, and custom components
  • work within multi-user environments, link and import CAD files, and export data to ensure seamless collaboration across project teams
  • use BIM tools for clash detection, design verification, and data analysis to prevent errors and optimise project outcomes
  • create and format annotated drawings, schedules, and detailed construction plans for print-ready documentation.

You’ll leave this course with comprehensive BIM and Revit skills, ready to create sophisticated construction models and documentation that align with industry standards.

You’ll also have gained valuable insights into how BIM can improve your workflows, helping you to deliver efficient, high-quality projects.

Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll study during the course:

Get to know Revit’s interface and master essential tools like grids, walls, doors, floors, and layouts.

Expand your modelling skills with 3D views, schedules, curtain walling, and rendering for a fully developed project model.

Learn about linking models, managing data, and working in a collaborative environment for seamless project management.

Generate and optimise professional construction documentation, using BIM for detailed data insights and project planning.

Tutor profile:

Brendan Chidiebere Obiechefu is a lecturer at NTU teaching undergraduate modules in Civil Engineering Design.

He earned a B.Eng. in Civil Engineering from Madonna University, Nigeria, before beginning his career as a Structural Design Engineer in Abuja, Nigeria's capital city. After a year in this role, he left for the UK to begin his MSc in Civil & Structural Engineering at Coventry University, graduating in 2017.

Brendan pursued his doctoral studies at Nottingham Trent University, completing a PhD in Structural Engineering from 2017 to 2022. His doctoral research (conducted within NTU’s Vision-Based Structural Health Monitoring Research Group) focused on innovative computer vision-based monitoring techniques for small to medium-scale bridges.

Brendan’s work has involved collaborative projects with Nottinghamshire County Council and Leicestershire County Council that have been shared through peer-reviewed journal articles, conference proceedings, and his thesis.

He is a member of the Institute of Structural Engineers (IStructE) and contributes actively to the Civil Structural Health Monitoring (CSHM) workshops.

Careers and employability

The course is designed to prepare you to succeed in the civil, structural and construction industry.

Certificate of attendance and digital badge

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a digital certificate of attendance and a digital badge powered by Accredible.

Your digital credential is more than just a certificate – it’s secure, verifiable, and protected against fraud through encryption and blockchain technology.

They also come with detailed metadata, including an overview of the skills you have achieved on the course, evidence of completion, and assessment criteria if appropriate.

Share your achievements seamlessly with friends, customers, and potential employers online, and proudly add your badge or certificate to social media platforms such as LinkedIn, so all the right people can see it.
