More about Adela

I am a third year full-time PhD researcher in Law at NLS supervised by Graham Ferris, Brian Harris and Helen O’Nions.

Prior to the start of my research degree, I have graduated with a Master’s degree at NLS. I graduated from the LLM programme of International Trade and Commercial Law with a distinction pass grade in all the modules as well as my dissertation. Additionally, I have received the prestigious award for the best overall LLM student of 2015/2016.

Prior to the commencement of my studies in the UK, I also obtained an LLB and an LLM in Law and Legal Sciences at Charles University, Prague, concurrent to a Bachelor’s degree in Economics at the University of Economics, Prague.

During my LLM studies at the NLS I have always been impressed by the quality of the teaching and an excellent supportive environment, therefore, when I was choosing a school to pursue my research, the NLS was my first choice.

I am also a part of the prestigious AHRC Midlands4Cities Doctoral Training Partnership community. My research focuses on the enforcement of international commercial transactions by UK businesses in a fragmenting transnational environment. The project aims to develop a socio-legal strategy for ensuring an effective enforcement of transactional deals in global trading networks in the context of the UK’s uncertain future relationship with the EU legal order.

During my PhD journey I have presented at many conferences including the Society of Legal Scholar Conference 2019 in Preston and I have always managed to ignite a fruitful discussion due to the topicality of my research.

For the past two years I have also been teaching Contract Law at the NLS in the capacity of an HPL and I have enjoyed this experience to the full extent. After the submission of my Thesis which I anticipate in Autumn 2020 I would like to progress my career in academia further.
