3D printing has become a mainstream, ubiquitous technology finding applications in many industries and sectors due to its digital, additive and toolless workflows.  The lecture will illustrate examples of how this has been utilised in a range of diverse sectors and some of the research exploiting its design freedom for creating fascinating and complex artifacts.

Biography

Guy Bingham is Professor of Design and Associate Dean for Practice at the School of Art and Design at Nottingham Trent University. With a long-standing academic and research background, his expertise lies in 3D printing and design, particularly in 3D printed textiles and product design. His research spans several areas, including design for manufacture, 3D modelling, and innovative applications in sectors like fashion and Art. His work has been recognised in various academic and industry settings and has successfully led significant projects like the "Impacting Business by Design" program. His contributions to design and 3D printing are captured in numerous journal papers, conference presentations, and patents, reflecting his commitment to advancing the field.
