Join us at our second Business Leaders Lecture of the academic year as we welcome Debbie Hewitt MBE, The Football Association’s first female Chair and one of the UK’s most influential women. Debbie will give an overview of her non-executive and executive career as she aims to dispel some of the common entrepreneurship myths. This will be followed by an open Q&A session.

Join us at our second Business Leaders Lecture of the academic year as we welcome Debbie Hewitt MBE, The Football Association’s first female Chair and one of the UK’s most influential women. Debbie will give an overview of her non-executive career over 15 years in multiple industries, including: Visa Europe Limited, The Football Association, Comparethemarket, White Stuff Limited. She will also cover her executive career at Marks and Spencer plc and the RAC plc. She aims to dispel some of the common entrepreneurship myths. This will be followed by an open Q&A session.

About the lecturer- Debbie Hewitt:

Debbie Hewitt MBE is the Non-Executive Chair of Visa Europe Limited, The Football Association, Comparethemarket, and fashion retailer White Stuff Limited.

Debbie’s previous Non-Executive Chair roles include Private Equity owned Evander Group and HPI Limited and listed businesses The Restaurant Group plc, Moss Bros Group plc and HR Owen plc. She has also held several Non-Executive Director roles across a variety of different sectors.

In her executive career, Debbie started as a management trainee with retailer Marks and Spencer plc and after working in a variety of different roles in the Motor Industry for Lex Service plc, she ultimately became the Managing Director of RAC plc, a role that concluded in 2009, after the acquisition of RAC by Aviva.

Debbie holds an MBA with distinction from Bath University. She was awarded an MBE for services to Business and the Public Sector in the New Year Honours List in 2011, and in September 2021, Debbie was awarded Chartered Companion of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (Chartered CCIPD), recognising outstanding and distinguished service to the people profession. In July 2022 she was awarded the Honorary Degree Doctor of Business Administration by Nottingham Trent University, in recognition of her significant contribution to Business and the Public Sector.

She was the first female Managing Director of RAC plc in its 125-year history and is the first female Chair of The Football Association in its 160-year history. In 2021, she was included in the Vogue 25 – British Vogue’s annual list of the UK’s most influential women.

She is married to Paul and has 14-year-old twins, Ellie and Will.
