Event details

Join Emily to learn how universities can use their power and influence to help lead their communities on a Nature Positive journey, building resilient ecosystems, helping nature to recover and limiting climate change.

Emily studied anthropology and has a broad background in sustainability including eco housing, textiles and conservation. Emily works at the University of Oxford in Department of Biology coordinating the Nature Positive Universities initiative. This is a global community of higher education institutions, including NTU, committed to playing its part in halting and reversing nature loss. Universities in the network take responsibility for their own biodiversity impacts, take bold actions, and transparently document progress towards institutional goals for nature. In this talk Emily will share examples from this global network and help us reimagine the role universities can play by greening their campus spaces and addressing their biodiversity footprints, as well as sharing actions taken by student ambassadors to help safeguard a liveable future within planetary boundaries for people and nature.

Great Minds at Nottingham Trent University
Great minds don’t think alike. They innovate and advocate, they disrupt and inspire, and they do it all on their own terms. They’re the visionaries and the pioneers — the boldest, the bravest, and the brightest.

The Great Minds series is designed to entertain, inspire, and stir imaginations. Featuring distinguished thinkers, leaders, and innovators from every discipline and culture, Great Minds is a series for curious souls in search of a deeper understanding of the world.

Great Minds is brought to you by Nottingham Trent University’s arts programme, Curated & Created.

NTU Green Week
This event is part of Green Week, when we'll explore how NTU can unite, act and deliver solutions to one of the most pressing global challenges of our time. We'll also celebrate our status as a Nature Positive University. With events and activities for NTU students, staff and the public, find out how you can get involved in NTU Green Week.
