Role

Dr Kirsty Welsh is a Senior Lecturer at Nottingham Law School and a Deputy Course Leader; module leader; and teacher in the Nottingham Law School.  She is the Deputy Course Leader for Law with Criminology, reflecting her long experience in teaching criminology to law students.  She is the module leader on both the full-year and half-year Criminal Law with Mooting modules, having taught Criminal Law throughout her teaching career. In addition to lecturing and tutoring on the Criminal Law modules, Dr Welsh also tutors on the third year Sexuality and the Law and Criminology and Criminal Justice modules.

Dr Welsh welcomes PhD applications in the areas of domestic abuse in particular and VAWG more generally.

Career overview

Dr Welsh began her career with her doctoral research, which focused on partnership responses to domestic abuse, at the University of Sheffield, under the supervision of Professor Joanna Shapland.  Dr Welsh was soon appointed to a Lectureship in Criminology in the Law School at Sheffield, using this position to develop several modules which focused on VAWG.  With Dr Maggie Wykes, she wrote Violence, Gender and Justice (published by SAGE) to support her teaching in this regard.

Soon after the publication of this book, Dr Welsh took a career break from academia.
