Overview
This research cluster focuses on explaining and preventing unhealthy, immoral and/or illegal behaviour. A range of methodologies are used to explore, in a scientifically rigorous way, why people commit acts that cause social, physical and emotional harm to themselves and others.
The research is typically mixed method and focuses on using findings to create practical differences in Society; there is typically a strong strand of service user collaboration through all of our work. The cluster includes three internationally acclaimed research units: Sexual Offending, Crime and Misconduct Research Unit (SOCAMRU), the Behavioural Addiction (including the International Gaming Research Unit), the Bullying and Aggressive Behaviour Research Unit, and is also aligned with a network of forensic and clinical practitioners (Forensic Harm Prevention Network).
