Centre for Behavioural Research Methods

The Centre for Behavioural Research Methods (CBRM) in the School of Social Sciences is an interdisciplinary hub for nurturing, developing and sharing the theory and practice of social science research methods. The diverse nature of both social science and social science research is integral to CBRM. Our Centre has critical mass in a range of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies that span the breadth of Behavioural and Social Science Research. As such, the Centre consists of staff with methodological expertise in education; politics and international relations; psychology; social work and community and sociology.

CBRM is a space to coordinate and provide a focus for the methodological activities and to facilitate research understanding and collaboration. CBRM builds upon our regional, national and international reputation for excellence in social science research methods. The Centre aims to facilitate high quality research that feeds into multiple Units of Assessment in the Research Excellence Framework.

The Centre for Behavioural Research Methods promotes and facilitates research, knowledge exchange, evaluation and consultancy expertise and leads qualitative and quantitative research methods training for the School, University and beyond. CBRM is both hub - and home - for cultivating world leading social science research methods and the researchers who employ them.
