Would you like to help policy makers to use your research and expertise?

Nottingham Civic Exchange is pleased to announce that we are seeking the best ideas to make a difference in policy to help improve society. Building on our expertise and desire to maximise the work of colleagues across the School of Social Science we are launching our new policy fellowship scheme in the new academic year to support up to three Social Science colleagues to promote and develop policy engagement and impact from their work. By enhancing the space for colleagues to deliver policy and civic impact using an established and successful government fellowship model we hope to highlight and share the great research and expertise we have in the school.

Our NCE Policy Fellows will be offered planning and coaching support alongside capacity-building funding to help fellows develop meaningful engagement with policymakers. You will also be part of a small network of Policy Fellows who can support each other and engage with our developing Policy Engagement Group funded through IKEP which is running across NTU.

If you are a civic partner looking to boost the impact of your work do not forget we can work with you too, but this project is just for NTU Social Science colleagues this time around.

NCE will support successful Fellows to refine their engagement and address the policy challenges they encounter through their work. We will identify and explore different approaches to engagement and target work based on where policy fellows are coming from and aiming to. Researchers will be supported to develop new and deeper links beyond academia, enabling knowledge exchange and individual skills development whilst boosting the opportunity to make a difference. Consider applying for the Policy Fellowship to develop your policy engagement skills such as:

• hosting workshops/roundtables with policy makers
• creating and sharing policy briefs
• undertaking longer-term impact and knowledge exchange planning
• stakeholder mapping and engagement
• publishing policy focused reports and blog outputs
• select committee submission

The Fellowships will run from October 2023 until the end of the academic year. To apply you simply need to consider and complete the short online application form which seeks to understand your ideas, policy awareness and expertise.
