Submit your entry for WRAP's Creative Writing Competition – Notes to Self

Submissions are now open to students and staff for the latest WRAP Creative Writing Competition. Send us your Notes to Self for a chance to be published in the next WRAP anthology.

Hands writing in a notebook.

Following the success of WRAP's (Writing, Reading and Pleasure) 2022 anthology, All About Love, we're giving NTU students and staff another opportunity to become published writers and see themselves in print.

Inspired by WRAP Featured Writer Emilie Pine's Notes to Self, we're asking you to write about a moment, event or experience in your life. Perhaps you've got a family story to tell about a holiday, occasion or meal. Maybe there's a childhood memory to recall, or something that happened at school, university or work. You could choose to write a note to your past, present or future self. Reflect on time spent with friends – watching the World Cup, going out or playing in a team. All lives are valuable and every experience counts; we are not expecting you to write about being a rocket scientist, unless you are a rocket scientist, that is! Your entry can be sad or uplifting, funny or personal; we will treat your writing with respect. You can write in prose, poetry or script, or submit an illustration.

There will be up to ten winners in the student and staff categories and a number of highly commended entries. Winners will be published in our 2023 anthology and have the opportunity to perform at our WRAP Live! student showcase at Metronome. The overall winner will be able to book a Creative Writing course, worth over £400, generously donated by NTU Creative Short Courses.

How to enter
Submit your entry through our online form before the deadline – 9 am on Monday 17 April. Submissions are now open. This competition is only open to current NTU/Confetti students and staff members.

Lunchtime workshops
Get inspired to write your competition entry with Dr Becky Cullen at one of our free lunchtime Creative Writing Roadshow workshops for NTU students and staff. Take some time out of your day to do something creative, writing from lived experience. You’re welcome to come along for an opinion on your entry, too. You'll also find some great advice in Emilie's guest post on the WRAP blog.
