The microcredentials build skills in leadership and problem-solving

Taught by sector leading academics and informed by real world research, the microcredentials showcase the expertise of NBS, which holds four globally recognised hallmarks of excellence and quality for business education.

Available on global platform, Future Learn, all the courses include a formal online assessment and lead to 10 Level 7 Postgraduate credits from Nottingham Trent University (NTU), which can be put towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Leadership and Management Practice.

They are designed to upskill professionals without the time and cost commitment of a full degree and cover issues relevant to all modern workplaces.

With an ever-increasing awareness of the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, address climate change, and transition to a net zero society, the Climate Solutions for a Net Zero Future microcredential will fulfil the demand for climate literacy from managers and employees working at all levels in organisations across the public, private, and third sector.

It is designed and led by the team behind NTU’s globally recognised and acclaimed Carbon Literacy Training. Participants will develop their climate literacy and understanding of climate leadership, enabling them to make an impact in their own organisation, neighbourhood, and wider society.

For those looking to build resilience and grow their ability to respond to, and recover from, challenges, Leadership Resilience and Thriving During Turbulent Timesuses a research, evidence-based approach to explore the concept of resilience and its importance in leadership.

The course explores effective strategies for dealing with stress, adversity, and trauma to create supportive leaders of thriving teams.

NBS is also helping to develop ethical approaches to leadership with the Values-driven Problem Solving in Organisational Systems microcredential.

The course will help professionals to become better and more ethical leaders by learning how to leverage their values and solve problems through systems thinking – a more holistic approach which sees organisations as a series of connecting parts in a wider network.

Focusing on collaborative leadership, participants will be equipped with both a philosophical background and practical tools, strategies, and resources to assist them in tackling complex problems.

All courses last ten weeks, at a cost of £750, and begin on 8 May.

NBS already hosts four short courses on Future Learn; Climate literacy and action for all; SMART tourism and responsible travel; Leadership tools for ethical problem-solving; and Developing leadership resilience

Dr Alex Hiller, Head of Postgraduate and Executive Education at Nottingham Business School, said: “Middle and senior management can often find themselves wanting or needing to grow their skills for the benefit of their organisation, their team and their own career. However, this can be costly and difficult with a demanding job and a busy personal or family life.

“These courses are affordable and flexible. They allow people to develop skills which are sought after by employers in a way that is less intimidating but can lead to a recognised leadership qualification in the future.”
