On Wednesday 8 March, Nottingham Law School’s Mooter’s Guild hosted the International Women’s Day Moot. The Moot was led by Barristers Training Course student Sophie Clay alongside undergraduate law students Phoebe Duterloo and Giselle Tavener.

The problem was based on immigration and written and judged by Dr Helen O’Nions alongside two practicing barristers; Danielle St Clair from Castle Gate Chambers and Annabel Lenton from 1 High Pavement.

Jessica Shawky as Lead Appellant was awarded the winner, following the moot alongside her colleagues Tianna Lagano (Junior Appellant) and Aaliyah Kisembo (Junior Respondent).

It has been a great experience organising the International Women’s Day Moot. I really enjoyed being able to encourage new mooters after having competed in this moot previously.
