Over 90 employers came to NTU to showcase their placement and graduate opportunities to students across the School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment.

Over 90 leading companies working in the built environment came to NTU last month where they spoke with current students about their graduate career opportunities.

The event aimed to help students on courses in the School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment learn more about early career opportunities. It provided them with a chance to network, ask their questions, and chat with regional and local employers.

Many students prepared for the day by bringing their CV’s along with them. The event was especially useful for students in their first and second years of study who were able to find out more about future placement year opportunities directly.

Similarly, it gave companies a chance to learn more about NTU talent and connect with students from degree disciplines they may not have traditionally considered. Many were impressed by how engaged the students were, as well as the research done beforehand.

Representatives from the construction industry highlighted how passionate the students were – “in particular the volume female students” who came along to talk about their interest working in the sector (Kori Construction).

Speaking about the visit, Marie-Ange Erhart from Property Consultants, Fisher German LLP said:

“We spoke with a large number of students who all seemed interested in what we do. Comparatively to other fairs we have attended, this one was very well attended and we plan on coming back next time.“

Fran Hunter from the UK Government’s Valuation Office Agency reflected:

“We spoke to a number of bright students who were keen to apply for our placement and graduate schemes, so hopefully we will receive some good quality applications, and some of them will be successful.”

Overall, the event attracted significant interest with over 400 students signing in. The fair dashboard which contains details of all the employers who visited and their opportunities has so far attracted almost 4,000 views.

Looking ahead…

There are still a number of upcoming careers fairs and alternative engagement activities available across our campuses, for businesses to get involved in.
