Environmental Chamber

The perfect space for Sport Science students looking to understand the performance of athletes under different conditions.

Located in the Erasmus Darwin building on Clifton Campus, the Environmental Chamber is equipped with advanced technology, allowing Sport Science students to control environmental factors like temperature, humidity and altitude.

It offers unique controls over the internal climate. By replicating virtually any environment found across the globe, students can precisely study and understand the impact of diverse climates on the human body.

The chamber can also simulate hypoxia by reducing oxygen levels in the air. This technique serves a dual purpose, aiding in the treatment of respiratory and circulatory conditions and expediting injury recovery. The chamber is officially approved by the British Olympic Association and has been used by Team GB members.
