Role

Shannon is Head of Physiotherapy at NTU Sport.

Shannon has 8+ years of experience in MSK practice and sport has been a prominent interest her whole life. She joined NTU Sport in Summer 2023 to lead our performance physiotherapy services for scholars and performance athletes. She works closely with her own team of practitioners and collaboratively with the S&C team and coaches in managing athlete’s injuries and returning them back to performance sport safely.

In conjunction to clinic work, Shannon and her team support and manage athletes on match days with her being level 3 PHICS pitch side qualified.

Career overview

Shannon studied BSc Physiotherapy at Sheffield Hallam university and qualified with first class honours in 2016. Prior to joining NTU, Shannon has worked across a wide range of population groups within NHS and private settings. She did further study in paediatric MSK and in her last role became the children’s specialist in her practice, particularly those with sporting injuries.

Furthermore, she was appointed student and junior training lead at CSG physio. Within this role, she created a development and training programme to support and develop newly qualified physiotherapist coming into the MSK setting. Shannon joined NTU Sport in 2023 as Head of Physiotherapy, moving into a full-time sport focus therapist role.

External activity

Shannon APPI Pilates trained and offers restorative Pilates classes and one to ones. In her spare time, you can find Shannon coaching within Loughborough Lightning netball pathway, one of the leading franchises for performance netball, where she is in a head coach role for an age group academy. Being in this role gives Shannon a unique insight and understanding of what is required in the performance sport environment form both a coach and physiotherapist perspective. When Shannon is away from work you’ll most likely find her reading her books with her cats or in a different country.
