Role
Antony is a Research Fellow on the joint AHRC-DFG project “Linguistic practices of coal mining communities in the post-industrial era: Variation, documentation, representation, regeneration”, which involves examining linguistic and cultural aspects of coal mining heritage in the East Midlands (Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire) as well as the Ruhr Area in Germany.
Career overview
Antony is a qualified translator and conference interpreter from a range of languages into English. He holds a doctorate from the University of Silesia in Katowice, master’s degrees from the universities of St Andrews, Oxford, and Galway, and two diplomas in piano performance. A member of several international scholarly networks, he has been a visiting fellow at institutions in Germany and Bulgaria and has also completed temporary contracts at universities in Poland and Slovenia.
Research areas
Antony has broad research interests spanning linguistics, literature, and translation studies, and he has published widely on literary and historical representations of linguistic and ethnocultural diversity in various temporal and geographical contexts, including Central & Eastern Europe, Ireland, and the Caribbean.
