Derick Liew currently teaches HND and HNC Engineering courses at our NTU Mansfield Campus.

Career overview

Derick Liew obtained MEng and BSc degrees in Chemical Engineering (with Environmental Engineering) and Chemical Sciences from the University of Nottingham and the University of Edinburgh, respectively.

He previously completed two industrial placements at two world-renowned manufacturing companies: Henkel and Procter and Gamble (P&G). He is currently at the final stage of completing his PhD at the University of Sheffield. Derick has been actively teaching at the university level since November 2019, encompassing modules at undergraduate, postgraduate, and foundation levels. He obtained FHEA recognition in May 2021. To date, he has delivered and assessed various types of teaching activities, including laboratory experiments, research projects, engineering apprenticeships, and physics skills workshops.

He is now a full-time lecturer at Nottingham Trent University (NTU). He contributes to the delivery of engineering-focused Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs) at NTU Mansfield Hub.
