Eastern Africa Centre Events

Jonathan has provided a leading role in organising a number of key Seminars, Webinars, Workshops and Symposiums for the Eastern Africa Centre since 2022, in both the UK and across Africa.

The EAC holds an Annual Symposium - the latest being on March 11 - 12 2025. Jonathan chaired the screening and panel discussion of Eitai, a documentary that explores the challenges and innovative solutions of rural community members in North-Eastern Uganda. The Symposium included  keynote speeches from the Rwandan High Commissioner to the UK Johnstone Busingye and  Professor Elijah Bitange Ndemo a global technocrat and currently serving as Kenya's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union. The sold out event was hugely successful and provided a two-day celebration of the Eastern Africa Centre (EAC), showcasing the EACs academic and student research, partnerships, and networks across the Eastern Africa region and beyond.  Jonathan also organised a networking reception  for the EAC Symposium, in addition to a hugely successful networking  research event, in which over 20 academics and students presented 5-minute lightning talks on their Africa related research projects from across the NTU Schools and from some of our international collaborating partner institutions.
