Role
Nicola is deeply motivated by people, fairness and the importance of feeling valued. She believes people learn and grow best when they feel comfortable being themselves, asking questions, making mistakes and having their experiences taken seriously.
She brings this into her teaching through real situations, honest conversations and practical examples, rather than treating business and HR as something that exists only in textbooks. She enjoys creating an environment where students can challenge ideas, share their own perspectives and build confidence in finding their voice.
Her PhD research into engagement and participation among NHS bank-only nurses reflects these same values. She is particularly interested in people whose experiences can be overlooked or who sit outside traditional organisational structures.

Nicola’s approach has been shaped by a career across HR, management, consultancy and higher education, working with people in a range of organisations and cultures. Through this experience, she has seen first-hand the difference that great leadership, inclusion, communication and trust can make.
