Role
Joe Pielichaty is a designer and Senior Lecturer teaching on BA (Hons) Graphic Design and BA (Hons) Motion Graphics courses. He serves as the Level 4 Year Leader a co-leads the module 'The Fundamentals of Graphic Design'.
Career overview
Joe’s teaching is closely informed by an active and multidisciplinary practice grounded in print, illustration, typography, and publication design. He looks at the studio as a space where play and precision coexist and aims to foster both confidence and design sensitivity in his students, helping them to consider design as a practice of questioning as much as solving.
Before joining NTU, Joe worked professionally in the fields of advertising and creative communications and has collaborated with a wide range of institutions and clients including the National Museum of Scotland, Victoria and Albert Museum, The Royal Over-Seas League, Fedrigoni and Corraini Edizioni.
Joe holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He is an active member of the School of Art and Design’s Athena SWAN working group, contributing to initiatives that champion gender equality and inclusive teaching practices across higher education.
