Introduction:

Course dates:

7 - 11 July 2025, Monday to Friday 10 am - 4 pm

This course is a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of CLO3D, a powerful 3D garment design and visualisation software.

You will learn the key concepts and techniques needed to create realistic 3D garments, simulate fabric properties, and visualise your designs in a virtual environment.

Whether you are a fashion designer, student, or interested in digital garment design, this course will equip you with the essential knowledge and skills to get started with CLO3D.

  • You’ll be part of a design community in our creative studio culture; one that promotes discussion and collaboration, and encourages experimentation and the constant swapping of ideas.
  • With a limited class size you'll have the one-to-one attention you need to ensure you leave with the skills to continue developing your designs at home or work.
  • Benefit from learning with an experienced tutor who has established links to the profession and significant experience working in varied practices.
  • On successful completion of the course, you will receive a digital certificate of attendance and a digital badge.

Here’s what our previous attendees said:

‘This course was more than I expected. The tutor is extremely good at teaching and demonstrating. I learnt so much during the course. It was nice that the tutor has prior fashion experience.’

'I really enjoyed this course. Especially the tutors teaching style, the classmates, the resources and the facilities.'

What you’ll study

This course will provide you with the skills necessary to take your fashion design process to the next level and present your ideas effectively in a digital environment.

During this course, you will:

  • understand how to navigate the Clo3D interface
  • use workspace layouts, tools and panels in the software
  • create virtual garments and practice using pattern cutting tools
  • use pattern manipulation techniques including drafting, adding darts and fullness
  • create realistic fabric simulations that demonstrate movement in the garment
  • develop a 3D visualisation of your garment
  • create technical drawings, 3D models and virtual samples.

By the end of this course, you will have a solid foundation in using CLO3D and be able to create and visualize realistic 3D garments.

Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll study during the course:

Understand the capabilities and features of CLO3D software and its importance in the fashion industry. You’ll get familiarised with the CLO3D user interface, including workspace layout, tools and panels.

Learn how to create virtual garments from scratch using CLO3D’s pattern making tools. Explore different pattern manipulation techniques, such as drafting, editing, adding darts and fullness. You’ll understand the basics of fabric simulation in CLO3D, exploring different fabric properties and how to apply them to achieve realistic draping and movement of garments.

Discover techniques for modifying and refining your garments. Learn how to adjust garment fit, add details like buttons and zippers, and explore different stitching and folding options.

Explore the process of applying textures and materials to your garments, including fabric patterns, colours, and prints. Learn how to create and import custom textures to enhance your designs.

Continuing on your own project, you’ll practice the techniques you’ve learnt so far.

Learn how to create dynamic 3D visualisations of your garments. Understand the lighting, camera, and rendering options to showcase your designs effectively. Discover how to collaborate and share your CLO3D projects with others. Learn about exporting options for creating technical drawings, 3D models, and virtual samples utilising CLO-SET.
